RETIREMENT
Veteran: Malaysian citizens who have served full-time in the armed forces and have not been retired or dismissed from service due to misconduct in any of the following forces: Regular Malaysian Armed Forces Volunteer forces mobilized full-time by the Malaysian Armed Forces (regardless of service period) Force 136 British Army who served in Malaya, Malaysia or Singapore Sarawak Rangers Reference: Veterans Act 2012 (Act 740)
There are two categories of armed force veterans: Veterans with Pension Served 21 years or more, entitled to monthly pension Veterans without Pension Served less than 21 years, not entitled to pension
A special identification card issued to all armed force veterans (with pension or without pension). Types: Physical Veteran Card Digital Veteran Card (via VIBES 2.0) Benefits include: Verification of armed force veteran status Eligibility for JHEV Welfare Assistance and Yayasan Veteran ATM schemes Access to medical facilities at government and military hospitals for veterans and dependents Discounts from selected vendors
Benefits differ according to service type and retirement age: Permanent Commissioned Officers who have reached compulsory retirement age/ optional retirement age or have 20 years of recognised service and above (subject to MAT approval) are eligible to receive the following retirement benefits: Permanent Commissioned Officers who retire with < 20 years of recognized service are eligible to receive the following retirement benefits (subject to AGM approval): Short Term Commissioned Officers (TJP) who retire at compulsory retirement age are eligible to receive the following retirement benefits: TJP officers who terminate their service according to the service expiration date are eligible for the following retirement benefits: For members of Other Ranks who have at least 21 years of recognized service are eligible to receive the following retirement benefits: Other Rank Members with less than 21 years of service and have served for at least 8 years: Volunteers who have completed full-time service in the Service are eligible to receive the following retirement benefits: Reference: JHEV Portal
A veteran is considered disabled if discharged due to: Service-related injury Service-related illness/accident Physical incapacity certified by ATM Medical Board The benefits received depend on the degree of disability experienced by the armed force veteran. Benefits include: Provided to armed force members who suffer injuries while in service and are related to duty The degree of injury or disability is determined by the Cause Determination Board (LPS), ATM Health Services Division Payment rate: according to rank at the time of injury This benefit is paid when the member has retired or terminated service Members who are certified to have suffered disabilities may receive one or a combination of the following Disability Benefits components: Disability Pension (PHU) Disability Gratuity (GHU) Education Allowance Constant Attendance Allowance Additional benefits to recipients of Disability Benefits Given to armed force members who experience a work-related accident involving permanent disability or death Payable when the member suffers an accident or injury Payment rate: according to rank at the time of injury There are two types of Ex-Gratia Work Accident categories: Monthly Ex-Gratia: Members who are injured with a degree of injury of at least 20% Certified by the Cause Determination Board (LPS) Monthly and continuous payment even after the member has terminated service Bulk Ex-Gratia: Injured members with an injury degree of less than 20% Certified by the Cause Determination Board (LPS) Lump sum payment only Reference JHEV Portal Permanent Forces Regulations (Pensions, Gratuities & Other Benefits) 1982 Pekeliling Perbendaharaan: WP 6.3 Skim Ex Gratia Bencana Kerja Bagi Pegawai Perkhidmatan Awam Persekutuan

This system also stores data on ATM veterans and their dependents registered nationwide.
